RemoteLogix application allows users to access Key Register via the Internet

Since its release in June, Key Register’s first web-based remote software application, RemoteLogix, has generated considerable interest among auto dealers. RemoteLogix allows approved dealership personnel to access the Key Register system via their Internet Explorer browser and can be installed on and operated from any number of dealer-selected computers that exist on the same local area network (LAN) as the Key Register machine.

Prior to the implementation of this new application, Key Register users were either required to be physically present at the machine or to obtain a special remote administration license to view data contained on the Key Register system.

“The RemoteLogix feature is valuable to a dealership’s ability to better control people and processes,” said Mark Briles, the sales support supervisor for Key Register.

With RemoteLogix, any approved user may access the Key Register system via their web browser to manage users and vehicles or to view system activity, including reports on vehicle locations, the length of time each key was in use and the hours logged by each employee.

The application also gives administrative users the ability to adjust the system configuration, maintain user profiles and add vehicle data. The permissions programmed for each user on the main Key Register system are applied when a user logs in to RemoteLogix, preventing personnel from making unauthorized changes or accessing confidential data.

Additionally, Briles pointed out, RemoteLogix allows administrative users to add vehicles and scan key tags from the convenience of their LAN station without tying up the Key Register server where drawers are being accessed.

“Using RemoteLogix eliminates the need for staff to travel back and forth between their desks and the Key Register machine to check the status of a particular vehicle,” said Briles. “This software is used every day by managers and system administrators.”

The RemoteLogix feature will be included on all new KeyRegister systems. Current customers who would like to learn more about adding RemoteLogix to their existing system should contact their manufacturer representative.
